Conditions we treat

Hip Bursitis

Pain on the outside of the hip, often worse at night.

What is hip bursitis?

Hip bursitis (greater trochanteric pain) is irritation around the outside of the hip. It is often related to tendon overload in the gluteal muscles.

Common symptoms

  • Pain on the outside of the hip
  • Night pain when lying on the side
  • Pain with walking or stairs
  • Tenderness over the bony point of the hip

Common causes

  • Gluteal tendon overload
  • Hip and pelvic mechanics
  • Sudden increase in activity
  • Muscle weakness

How we treat it

We address load and hip control with a graded strengthening programme, hands-on treatment and practical advice on positions and activity to settle the irritation.

“We don't just label the symptom. We find what's actually driving your pain — then build a plan around it.”

— Vincent Harvey, Senior Physiotherapist + Founder
